Give Your Life a K.I.S.S.!

Everyone has heard it the acronym K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple, Stupid. When was the last time you actually thought about it? With the smallest amount of effort and some forethought, we can simplify our lives tremendously with minimal impact on our daily routines. Here are three easy ideas for simplifying your day and minimizing both physical & mental clutter:

Automate!
Most banks now offer the ability to set up automatic bill payments. Such programs eliminate the need for you to remember to write a check, make a phone call or even spend the money on a postage stamp every month. It may only take five minutes to do but if you generally write and mail, for example, 12 checks per month, that five minutes turns into a time savings of one hour! You’re also saving paper, which is environmentally responsible.

Know What You’re Eating!
Plan your menu a week or two in advance, depending on how often you go shopping for groceries. With a little planning ahead you can make the best use of sales and coupons, eliminiate unnecessary trips to the store and make sure that you’re getting a variety of food in your diet. Keep a “Menu Suggestion” list on the fridge or counter so your partner or kids can feel free to make a note of what they’d like to have. This keeps the menu democratic and makes it a lot simpler to handle since you can prepare some things in advance!

Turn off the TV!
Know ahead of time what you want to watch on television and stick to it. Resist the urge to flip channels. If you don’t feel well or just want to be a couch potato for a while, pick up a book.
